The Greater Gallatin Watershed Council (GGWC) invites the public to gain understanding about the importance of clean water in the Gallatin watershed at its 2016 Annual Meeting, “Celebrating Clean Water Partnerships,” The meeting is Thursday, January 28, 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Baxter Hotel in downtown Bozeman, with hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar.

The annual meeting will feature a clean water panel, where participants will learn about what clean water means and its importance to local people and industry.  The panel, including Don Seifert, Gallatin County Commissioner, Herb Bartle, Superintendent of the Bozeman Water Reclamation Facility, Tucker Kalberg, General Manager of Bozeman Brewing Company, Matt Kelley, Health Officer for the Gallatin City-County Health Department, and KC Walsh, President of Simms Fishing Products, will address the importance of clean water to their organization and describe their role in protecting clean water.  They will also share how these organizations benefit from partnerships in the watershed to help maintain and improve water quality.  People will learn how they can make a difference to water quality in our watershed.

GGWC will host a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction. The raffle winner will receive half the proceeds and the rest will support ongoing watershed restoration work in the Gallatin Valley. Participants can also bid on silent auction items, including free swim passes from Montana hot springs, including Bozeman Hot Springs Spa and Fitness, Chico Hot Springs Resort and Day Spa, Elkhorn Hot Springs, Fairmont Hot Springs Resort, Jackson Hot Springs, Lolo Hot Springs, and Water of the Gods – Norris Hot Springs.  One bidder will win a night of free lodging and free swim passes to Alameda’s Hot Springs Retreat and Symes Hot Springs Hotel & Mineral Baths in Hot Springs, Montana.

Bozeman Fly Outfitters and Guides has donated a guided flyfishing trip and TerraQuatic offers a kayaking trip on the East Gallatin.  Richard and Susan Duncan, owners of Duncan Farm-Homestead Beef, donated a guided tour of the Duncan Farm—a 76 acre, self-contained grass fed beef operation, featuring rare heritage breed cattle.   Hand-tied flies and iris rhizomes were donated by Don Heyden, and other auction items were donated by Bob Ward’s Sports & Outdoors, Montana Troutfitters, Owenhouse Ace Hardware, REI, Sacajawea Hotel, and Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures.
